Easter Candle Black - Sea Urchin with Evil Eye
In Greece, Orthodox Christians, carry ornately decorated candles (called Lampades)on Holy Saturday in celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. A godparent traditionally gives their godchild an Easter Lampada, every year. This piece is decorated with ribbons and a real sea urchin (painted black) with a shell evil eye. The evil eye symbol, "Mati" in Greek, is considered to have the power to protect from negative energy, misfortune and envy.
